Lake Oroville Fly fishing Reports

Capt. Hogan Brown reports on 12.13.18

Been spending most of my time this last week on the Great Inland Lake aka Lake Oroville with my boys and then exploring on my own figuring everything out for my winter-spring foothill spotted bass season.

Water temps are a bit warmer around 54-52 then I usually fish the lake at but the spotted bass and land locked chinook have been pretty grabby.

Most of the...

Deschutes River Fly Fishing Report

Cory Godell reports on 12.13.18

This fish was a perfect end to a great season. We were able to hook into this steelhead on our last guided day of the season. There are still fish to be caught, but you must get your flies down to them. Water temps are cold and the fish aren’t willing to chase flies very far. Sink tips or even nymphs are your best bet late in the season.

Don’t forget that a good chunk...

California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Capt. Bryce Tedford reports on 12.13.18

Delta Fishing Report:

Striper fishing in the Delta has become fairly tough this week with the bite being off a bit. Still getting 10-20 fish with some medium size fish mixed in but we are having to work for them.

The season seems to be winding down a bit but the weather continues to hold & we have had some nice days on the water.

Been experiencing cool crisp...

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Matt Koles reports on 12.13.18

A cold cloudy week on the Truckee River.

Looks like more of the same this week too. Actually, good for winter fishing. The clouds seem to keep things warmer. Like a blanket so to speak over the river.

Good streamer fishing on the Nevada side of the river. East through the Nature Conservancy, we had a couple really good days. Brown trout are post spawn. They are hungry...

Trinity River Fly Fishing Report

Dave Neal reports on 12.6.18

Here is a report for the Trinity River:

The amazing Trinity received a lot of rain over last week’s storm system. We thought she would blow out any day but the river held on until the very end… finally blowing out for just a day and a half over last weekend. As soon as it stopped raining the river was on the drop and clearing fast by 12/2/18

The river is back to low and...

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report

Chuck Volckhausen reports 12.6.18

The rain moved fish around in all the local streams and rivers.  It’s what we’ve been waiting for all season.   Snow is getting deeper on Mt Shasta and some bigger fish have made an appearance with the dirty water.

Hopefully, the rain continues and with it pods of moving fish. Most of these fish will be quick to get to their safe zones with weather like we’ve been...

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Matt Koles reports 12.6.18

Looking good on top.

Guessing we got over 4 feet in most upper elevation spots this last week. Maybe some more snow around the 10th, but for now, cold this week until the weekend. Cold duster coming in mid-week, not much snow, probably just enough to mess up the driveway.

Cold here in the Hirsch, not much snow, maybe a few inches hanging around. We get shadowed mainly,...

Lower Yuba Fly Fishing Report

Jon Baiocchi reports on 12.6.18

Northern Sierra

11/29/2018 - Conditions remain good on the Lower Yuba River and this past week gave us some wild weather from heavy rain, to extreme wind, and a few breaks in the action. Lots of anglers out on the river yesterday, you’ll get that after a series of storms keep you inside and getting the shack nasties. The much-needed rainfall raised the river up a tad...

Lower Yuba Fly Fishing Report

Capt. Hogan Brown reports on 12.6.18

Lower Yuba River –

Got a few days on the Lower Yuba River over thanksgiving week and had a great time. Just plain good trout fishing. Most fish are a fat 12-14” with a few bigger fish in the mix. Flows have been pretty stable around 1000cfs which is a great flow for floating or wading OR floating and getting out of the boat to fish. There are still salmon on...
