Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Anthony Carruesco reports on 11.26.18

We’re finally getting some rain in Northern CA. We’re expecting over 2 inches by the end of the day Friday. This will bring the rivers up, add some color and move steelhead up from the lower reaches in the Klamath and Trinity. We’re looking forward to some very good steelhead fishing opportunities by the weekend and next week.

We’ve had a year to remember on the...

California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Capt. Byrce Tedford reports on 11.26.18

Striper fishing in the Delta has been good this week but we are covering some water to find them. Some recent rains should clear the smoke from recent fires in NorCal. My heart goes out to those impacted by recent fires & my hope is they receive some Joy this Holiday season.

Most fish we have been finding are smaller “schoolies” but 3-5lb fish are mixed in &...

Lower Yuba Fly Fishing Report

Capt. Hogan Brown reports on 11.26.18

Lower Yuba River - Spent a few days guiding the Yuba the last week in the rain and fishing was good. Most of the fish are a healthy 12-14" with a few bigger fish in 17-18" bracket. I am sure there are bigger and smaller fish around, but that is what I have been finding. Flows with the rain have been hovering aroud 900-1000cfs and clarity is a dirty...

California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Capt. Bryce Tedford reports on 11.15.18

Delta

Striper fishing in the Delta continues to be good this fall. The weather has been challenging with a lot of smoke from recent fires in California making bad air quality, hopefully, the fires & smoke lay down for all those impacted. We are finding pods of fish spread

throughout the Delta but having to move a lot to find solid schools. Most fish are smaller...

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Jim Stimson reports on 11.15.18

Today marks the end of the regular fishing season in the Eastern Sierra and California. There are a few exceptions to the season closures: the East Walker, Hot Creek, and the Upper and Lower Owens. They are open year around. For the Upper Owens, the section above the Benton Crossing is open, everything below the bridge to the reservoir are closed until April.

The...

Deschutes Fly Fishing Report

Cory Godell reports on 11.15.18

Oregon

The trout fishing is some of the best of the year. This is the time of the season where you catch some of the biggest trout in the Deschutes. The big boys are eating everything that comes their way fattening up for the log winter.

Steelhead, on the other hand, are still playing a little hard to get. With the numbers of steelhead down this season, catching them...

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

The weather in the Eastern Sierra is crisp, cold, and clear.

Sierra Nevada

There does not appear to be any storms on the horizon in the extended forecast. Wah!

East Walker

The flows are currently at 25 cfs and 12º. This is very bony water. I am going to wait until the irrigation district bumps up the flows again, that said, expect the trout to be more lethargic and hanging in the deeper pools. They...

California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Steve Santucci reports on 11.8.18

Delta fishing was more challenging this last week.  Some windy days made it a tougher to find fish.

The water temps have been stable around 63 degrees.  This will soon change as we transition into Winter. I think the change will spark feeding activity and result in improved fishing conditions.

Klamath Fly Fishing Report

Rick Cox reports on 11.7.18

Klamath River Report

The steelhead are here and the run of early fish has been very good. A lot of half pounders so far but there are definitely adults in the mix.

Reports from the lower river indicate this strong start to the season will continue as more more fish enter the system. Fish are being taken on single handed and two handed rods swinging and on the bobber with...

Upper Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Rick cox reports on 11.7.18

Upper Sacramento Report

The USac has been producing a few lake run fish lately. To get away from the crowds I recommend the lower river from Lakehead up to Gibson and the possibility of hooking into one of these explosive fish.

You get above Gibson and you start seeing more anglers. From Sims up to Ney Springs the October Caddis are still abundant so definitely throw your...
