Madison River Fly Fishing Report

Nicholas A. Peterson, North Shore of the Madison

With the weather like it was last week it did not feel like summer anymore.  With the first snow in the mountains and colder temps last week allowed the fishing to pick up even more than it all ready was! The fish can feel the colder weather and the shorter days making them super angry and hungry as they fatten up for winter.  The browns are going to be spawning here in the next few months and let me tell you those bucks are super aggressive and full of hate for whatever you huck at them.  The streamer bite was on during the colder days but with the warmth coming back here the last day or so we’ve had great reports of some amazing fish rising for the hoppers! Could be an epic September the way August is ending.
