Madison River Fly Fishing Report

Sep 3, 20141 min read

Nicholas A. Peterson, NorthShore of the Madison

Labor Day Weekend was cold and wet up here in the Madison Valley.  With the Yellowstone river completely blowing out again from the heavy heavy rain we’ve had there has been a significant increase in anglers and drift boats on the Madison.  We’ve had good fish on olive colored streamers with a caddis fly hatch coming off in the evening if the T-storms can stay away.  Some signs of a late evening baetis hatch is also out there.  The nymphing with rubber legs and bead heads have produced numerous decent size fish.

We have now entered into September, Montana’s best month, the fishing is going to really pick up and get epic.

Anticipate the strike and hold on!
