Pit River Fly Fishing Report

Pit RiverAug 28, 20141 min read

John Fochetti, Clearwater Lodge

Pit 1 is still a no go, please leave this section alone until the water temps cool down. However 3,4, and 5 are all tailwaters so they are good to go. This water all comes from Lake Brittain which is fed by Fall River(spring fed), Hat Creek)mostly spring fed), Pit One, Burney Creek(spring fed and 45 degrees) and is full to capactity. Pit 3 is at a constant 280-300 cfs and very cold. Its fishing GREAT, so come up and see if you can’t fall in a couple times and catch some nice healthy rainbows. Nymphing has been great and they seem to be liking the Jimmy Legs again along with caddis Pupas.
