John Rickard, Wild Waters Fly Fishing
Fishing on the McCloud River remains good, though challenging. This time of year we see very little bug activity. An occasional pmd or beatis hatch and some caddis in the shadows is all we get. Many of the best holes now have a large brown trout or two in them keeping the rainbows in check and afraid. Now with the full moon most of the hatches and feeding happens at night leaving the daytime feeding lanes to the dinks. If all your doing is catching six to eight inchers, mix it up try something new. I enjoy chasing the big fish and we have been on them for awhile now. One or two fish like this should make your day.
