Owyhee River Fly Fishing Report

Owyhee RiverSep 11, 20141 min read

Cory Godell, Deschutes River Anglers

The Owyhee River is alive and fishing. It is however, running on fumes. If it wasn’t for a couple of big thunder showers that hit the area this summer the reservoir could of all but run dry.

If you have the time and you like catching brown trout, it’s time to head for the Owyhee. You name it and the fish are eating it. Small, medium and big bugs are whats on the menu right now. It’s just a matter of what time of day you are fishing. The short and sweet of it is now is primetime on the O. There’s less than two months left to fish the Owyhee. Usually by early to mid November a good chunk of the fish are starting to spawn and it’s time to give them a break for awhile.
