Yuba River Fly Fishing Report

Jordan Romeny reports on 2.14.19

Yuba Winter Report:

We are in the midst of another very good water year. The snow reports in the Sierras are reaching 150% mark. Looks like we will have plenty of water for the year to come. So what is happening right now? We are getting opportunities to fish in between the storms. Mother Nature is being kind enough to allow us a breath of fishing until the next set....

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Well apparently, Mammoth Mountain has the most year-to-date snowfall totals in North America, 446” with another big storm system piling it on this week. The Sierra is looking great, all of the peaks are plastered with snow to the valley floors. The spring runoff will be nice with all of the streams and rivers...

Trinity River Fly Fishing Report

Trinity River Steelhead

We had some violent storms this past week in Northern California.
The results of these storms have us slightly ahead (2”) of "normal" for
rainfall and looking good for water content in the snowpack. Woot Woot.
This is great news for salmon, steelhead and wild trout fisheries all over
California and especially here in the North state. Perhaps...

Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Lower Sacramento Trout

We have begun to fish the Lower Sac a bit recently and as we move further
into February I get more excited about the Sac. A lot of my clients have

steelhead on the brain (still) but the Sac offers a fantastic Plan B option
right now.
Before this latest cold weather snap, we experienced fantastic caddis action
during midday last week. Once the weather...

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

The latest round of storms dropped a ton of snow in the Sierra. Mammoth Mountain is reporting 8-11 feet of new snow at the ski area. The Town is trying hard to keep the roads clear, but…

That said, there is a slight break in the weather rolling in but there is another set of wet storms ahead. If you are intent on fishing the Upper...

California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Steve Santucci reports on 2.7.19

Delta Striper fishing was really well last week. We caught good numbers of schoolie Stripers.  Water temperatures were around 55 degree’s last week with water clarity a little bit off in most parts of the Delta.

This week’s cold storms should bring the water temps back down to around 50 degrees.

Fish will still be catchable even though the water temps have dropped....

Deschutes River Fly Fishing Report

Cory Godell reports on 2.7.19

Because of the cold snap that hit us a few days back, fishing has slowed a bit. The weather this time of year definitely plays a major part in bug hatches. We are still catching fish, but whenever we get a two or more consecutive days of sunshine the bite should pick up.

This can warm up the river a degree or two which can make all the difference to the fish and the...

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report

Wildwaters reports on 1.31.19

The Klamath continues to have a solid steelhead season. The rains have brought in a new push of fresh fish into the upper end above I-5 and with it the bigger winter fish.

Our guides are reporting fish up to 10 ibs. coming to the net which for the Klamath is a very good fish. We have been taking fish drifting nymphs under a bobber and also out of the boat swinging...

Upper Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Wildwaters reports on 1.31.19

Upper Sacramento River

Locally the Upper Sacramento River has been running high but continues to drop with the gauge today showing 1200cfs. Personally I love this big water this time of year.

The opportunity is out there for hooking up with one of the fiesty lake run rainbows which I like to refer to as freshwater steelies …. they fight like and look like steelhead,...
