Delta Striper fishing is improving as new fish are moving in. Fishing was really good on Tuesday . We caught good numbers of hungry Stripers. December is a great time to fish as the fish are trying to eat as much as they can to prepare for the cold of the coming New Year. Give it a try if you can break away.

Fall Striper fishing is starting to wind down on the CA Delta. We have had some solid days with some challenging days mixed in but overall a good season has been had with some great guests. As the season begins to wind down I am thankful for amazing guests & look forward to another good season in Spring of 2020. We still have a few weeks left in 2019 but the weather has changed, rain has arrived & you better be in a hearty fishing mood. In a few weeks I will shut down for the month of Jan. & get rolling again come February 2020. The Stripers we are finding have been feeding on Threadfin Shad 2-6” long. I like to use various Chartreuse/white combinations with/without rattles. Size of the fly depends on the bait in area but definitely try larger & smaller flies in a given area. Large Stripers can be found here & there if you are willing to work for them & go hunt. For large Striper hunting I like Intermediate, type 3 & type 6 sinking lines with large Steve Adachi rattle style Clouser flies in various colors.

That said, weather has been incredible, Fall colors have been in full swing & we have been catching plenty of fish! The Stripers are generally feeding on Threadfin Shad 2-6” long. Large Stripers can be found here & there if you are willing to work for them & go hunt. Some days I have got into many 3-5lb fish with some larger 5-20lb fish mixed in, other days the larger fish have been tough to locate. Delta fishing is continuing to improve. It has been moderate so far this fall as we have not yet really had a large influx of new fish. It has been good for a few bigger fish. It's hard to predict because the weather has been unusually warm this season.

Prime Delta Striper fishing is just getting rolling! Oct.-Dec 15 is typically very, very good on the Delta & it’s nice to have such an amazing fishery in our back yard. This week is super windy but in a few days the winds will subside, the temperatures will become a mild 70-80 degree high &
Fall fishing will be in full swing. Fall is my favorite time of the year on the Delta as it is the most predictable time of the year & the fishing is generally pretty good.
As for now, Striper fishing is beginning to pickup, schools of smaller fish can be found throughout the Delta. These fish are generally feeding on Threadfin Shad 2-4” long. I like to use various crease flies or gurglers on top when I find feeding schools of fish. In addition to Crease flies, smaller Chartreuse/white clouser flies will always get the job done. This time of year is fun in that you can boat around the Delta & look for feeding turns & seagulls. Underneath these birds will be bait balls of Threadfin Shad & under those will be Stripers & Largemouth feeding. These smaller Stripers/Largemouth(12-18”) are super fun on light rods & a great way to get into Striper fishing! In addition, some Large Stripers can be found here & there if you are willing to work for them & go find them. Some days I have got into many 3-5lb fish with some larger fish mixed in, other days the larger fish have been tough to locate. For large Striper hunting I like Intermediate, type 3 & type 6 sinking lines with large Steve Adachi style Clouser rattle flies in various colors.
