Delta Fly Fishing Report

California Delta

The weather is finally warm & the Delta is clearing up as well. We are still working pretty hard for fish & have been averaging 10-15 fish to 5lbs with an occasional large fish mixed in. Also, with warmer temperatures, the Largemouth are getting aggressive & are a fun surprise mixed in with the Stripers. The trick has been to find reasonable clean water that is holding feeding fish any given day.

We are approaching Spring spawn, likely on the Full moon toward the end of this month & that should bring in larger females which is always fun! Water temperatures are currently around 60 degrees & warmer weather will continue to warm the Delta.

In the dirty water, I primarily use 3-5” Rattle Clousers in various colors such as Chartreuse over White or Black-Purple over Chartreuse has been good as well.
