Lower Sac Striper Report

Hogan Brown Reports on 6.1.2017

Lower Sac Striper - Fishing has been good to very good for medium size 3-8lbs stripers. There are schools of schoolie size migratory fish around and the resident 8-10lb fish that can’t fit a shad down their throat are starting to get active as temps move up to 65 around midday. Visibility is about 2-2.5’, flows at Ord Bend are 12478cfs, water temps are ranging from...

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Matt “Gilligan” Koles Reports on 6.1.2017

Busy busy Memorial Day weekend.

Little late on the report, but that’s what happens. Guiding, watching twins, and repairing the deck keeps a man busy.

Anyways the Truckee River is still high, but fishing very very well. In fact we have had some very unusual numbers days, meaning quantity and quality. Quantity is rare, but quality ain’t on this river. When you...

Lake Davis and Frenchman’s Lake Fishing Report

Jon Baiocchi Reports on 6.1.2017

With Lake Davis being 13 feet higher than last fall it has been very tough locating fish in the usual spots. The behavior of the resident rainbows has been very odd. A large population of them is in deeper water, 20 to 30 feet down in the main channel of Grizzly creek by the big island. Out of reach for fly anglers, but the trolling meat hunters are being...

Williamson River Fly Fishing Report

Jim Andras Reports 6/1/2017

Headed over to the Williamson River yesterday to get a better feel for the conditions as I prepare for a summer guide season of big redbands. The river flows have dropped to just about average with the clarity slightly off color. Fish seemed comfortable under these conditions and aggressively took dead drifted nymphs and leeches swung on I lines. Felt great about the day...

Mokelumne-  20,048 CFS- Too big to fish, best to stay away.

Stanislaus- Hell’s Kitchen, and small streams are your best bet.
Below Goodwin Dam - 5,200 CFS - Too high to float.

Tuolumne -13,500 @ Merals Pool. Some...

Putah Creek Fly Fishing Report

LCO Reports on 5/25/2017

image

Flows have been raising on Putah Creek. Fishing had been good but the higher flows have made fishing the creek a little trickier and slowed the fishing way down.

Midges, PT’s, and Worms have been effective. I even had a guy in the shop who said he got a few on streamers.

Russian River Fly Fishing Report

Rob Russell reports on 5.25.2017

The shad have showed up.  Last week was pretty good for the Russian, with guys getting 10 or 12 a session.  I have got about 4 a session in the early a.m. or late p.m. the last few days, with yesterday really tapering off.

Still fun though, and the action should improve again, as long as fresh fish continue to show. The lineup has been mostly empty and/or very...

Fall River Fly Fishing Report

5/25/2017

Fall River has been fishing really well. Dry opportunities exist for those who want to target fish on the surface. It’s not easy but a well placed #18 PMD spinner on a long leader can result in some nice fish. A few customers have come in showing off fish well over 20 inches and one that was pushing 28 inches. Truly Amazing.

Leeching and indicator fishing have been...

Local Bay and Surf Report

LCO Reports 5/25/2017

The Bay is fishing incredibly well for stripers. This fish was literally caught this morning. You will notice the fish will start to get larger over the next few weeks. Get out there and fish this awesome fishery right in our backyard.

Intermediate (slow sinking lines) have been the ticket from shore. Large flies will help you target larger fish.

The surf has been fishing...

Hat Creek Fly Fishing Report

5/25/2017

Hat Creek has been fishing pretty well. The Salmonflies have started coming off down by the barrier where the creek goes into Lake Britton. BWO, Caddis and Drakes can all be spotted on any given day out there as well. If you are looking for a refuge from high flows Hat Creek might be your bet.

This is a great time to fish large dries below 299 bridge to the lake.

Hat creek is not any easy...
