Fishing Report

Brian O’Keefe and Todd Moen set out on another alpine fly fishing...

Brian O’Keefe and Todd Moen set out on another alpine fly fishing adventure. This time we were in search of trout. We fired up my old Honda Trail 110 and hit the hills for a wild adventure through mud, wind, rain and snow through some high alpine lakes in Eastern Oregon. Brian riding the motorbike and fly fishing from a float tube, and I on my camera and filming via aerial copter, we battled the...

Lower Yuba Fly Fishing Report

Flows have dropped to 4600cfs in the last 2 days. It looks like there is a window to get out and fish. Whether you want to fish shad in the lower river or get out and do so trout fishing here is a window. We don’t have reports on fish yet but anglers who know the river and have been able to catch these windows have been rewarded with nice fish.

Local Bay Area Fishing Report

Local beaches have been kicking out Surf Perch and a few Stripers. Baker Beach is a sweet spot to fish because it is so protected from the swell. If you need help figuring out lines and flies come by the shop and we can get you sorted.

@Jonny415

While the numbers of fish in the bay are thinning out as the fish head into the Surf this is the time of year to hook your big fish in the bay. High tide...

Fall River Fly Fishing Report

6.2.2017

Fishing on Fall River is never easy but this year it seems particularly rewarding with some really nice fish being caught. There are a lot of fish in the upper holes of the river, but that is where you will find most of the pressure too. There are dry fly opportunities for those who want to focus on catching on the dry on this iconic river.

Hat Creek Report

6.2.2017

Some nice fish coming out of Hat Creek. Large salmon flies have been out during the day in small numbers and Golden Stones have been coming out in the evening.

You can expect to see PMD hatches in the flat water above 299 in the evening. Use a long 12ft 5x leader and throw 3ft of 6x fluoro on the end of that for best results.

Pit River Fly Fishing Report

Pit Three is at about 480 CFS which is definitely fishable. If you are looking to get some water to yourself Pit 3 would be a really good option. While flows are a bit high, anglers are having success.

McCloud River Fly Fishing Report

6.2.2017

We got some amazing reports from the McCloud River this past weekend. We have about half a dozen customers on the river and they whacked em pretty good. The reports have been that fish really want shiny flies in pinks, purples, and other sparkly patterns. The size 4 or 6 rubber leg as a top fly is a must have as the Salmonflies are getting fired up. @wildwatersflyfishing posted a video of...

Upper Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

6.2.2017

Flows have dropped considerably since this time last week! This should mean great things for the fishing. The Upper Sac has produced some nice fish this spring and will only get better.

image

Customers and friends of the shop reported that last week the river was high and there wasn’t much for bug activity, but managed to get some nice fish:

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Jim Stimson Reports on 6.1.2017

We have spring runoff…. everywhere. After many days of warm weather, everything is running high and wild. And, if you love mosquitos, you will love the Upper Owens. Everything now is moist and saturated with water. Assuming you do not get stuck in the many bogs out there, once you have left the sanctuary of your vehicle, clouds of bugs (and I am not exaggerating),...
