Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Truckee RiverJun 1, 20171 min read

Matt “Gilligan” Koles Reports on 6.1.2017

Busy busy Memorial Day weekend.

Little late on the report, but that’s what happens. Guiding, watching twins, and repairing the deck keeps a man busy.

Anyways the Truckee River is still high, but fishing very very well. In fact we have had some very unusual numbers days, meaning quantity and quality. Quantity is rare, but quality ain’t on this river. When you hook 10-15 fish on this river you’re pretty stoked.

So basically we are into summer now. The water is still very high, but the fish have became accustomed to the high water. They are some of the fattest healthiest trout I’ve seen. They are eating all kinds of shit. We have just about every bug out you can get on this river now. Goldens, ants, drakes. Don’t think you’ll see any heads up. Nymph and streamers is the game.

It’s good now, but it’s only going to get better and better and better.
