Lower Yuba Fly Fishing Report

Lower Yuba Report:

Fall is upon us and the transitioning of the seasons is happening. Salmon are moving into the river and being seen daily. I have seen two fresh salmon redds in the open section of river. Up above highway 20, which is closed until December 1st, I would assume there is a lot of salmon digging redds or getting ready to. The trout have been eating stoneflies and caddis and eggs for me primarily. Fishing has been solid and should only get better as more salmon start digging, kicking up bugs and dropping eggs.

Last year we had a lot of pretty consistent, awesome mid-day dry fly fishing on caddis, PMD's and baetis throughout November, December and January- and hopefully this will repeat itself. If we have good weather that could take us into a good skwala season for February and into March.

My open dates for the coming months are Sept 26, 27, Nov 1, 11, 23, 24, 26, 29, 30 online booking at benthompsonoutdoors.com
