Flows are pumping at 7k for the yuba and 9k for the American, but the shad are in. Reports of big females and small males in the river.  I heard early this week 2 guys caught  50 shad in a half day on the yuba and folks getting em on the American in double digits.

We have runoff…. after several days of warm weather, everything is running high and wild. All of the weather services are sending out flood warnings. The next couple of weeks will be interesting. We’re right around 3,800-4000 k every day here in the Hirsch. Better than 5,500 k, which it was just recently. 4,000 k opens up a little more water, but not much. Clarity is good and all, but the water is still very high. The river really hasn’t come up with the warm weather.

The rivers running off Mt. Shasta are all starting to come into play for the season.  We do expect the upcoming, hot weather to bump some flows up due to snow melt, mostly on the Upper Sac and its feeder creeks.  We have been fishing from the raft and from shore.  Hatches of stoneflies and mayflies become more prolific everyday spring approaches.
