Finally! The flows are normal, well not normal for May but normal for fishing. We just dropped under 300cfs which opens up a ton of access. Normally the flows would be around 500cfs in May but this is not where close to a normal season or year. Hopefully the flows stay low for a while. It will make for some very good fishing over the next few weeks.
The farmers...

Someone dropped a striper bomb on the bay this week. We received multiple good reports from Marin and a few from north Alameda Co. Lots of schoolies around and a few bigger dudes. Crissy Field, literally in SF, is cranking out stripers and perch. This is seriously cool, urban fishing. Not many places in the world you can do it like this, and nowhere else can...

Fishing Report
Lower Sac striper fishing– Flows have come up again but so has water diversion, so it somewhat equals out – 16000cfs at Ord Bend – 13500cfs at Keswick. The canals are pumping a TON of water! Fishing for stripers has been hit and miss. There is a TON of migratory fish around but they were on the spawn last week so that shut the bite down and the...

Flows have dropped a bit from last week, but the river is still above flood stage. About 4,500 cfs today in the Hirsch. Most of last week it was about 5,500 cfs. Minor flood stage is 4,000 cfs here. Highs were in the 70’s last week, snowing now as I write this.
I am catching fish. I have my zones, but for the casual...

Lower Sac:
The Sac continues to fish well from Redding to Anderson. The flows came back up to 13,000 cfs last weekend and have stabilized there since. The fish continue to look for eggs and rubberlegs. Each week the fish are getting quicker as the more eggs that go over their heads. Make sure to bring your “A” game if you are heading up this way. Most days right...
Though still flowing about 1500 cfs above normal, water levels are heading in the right direction for the Rogue’strout opener on May 27th. Salmonflies and golden stones should start flying end of May/beginning of June and pitching dries over the coming weeks serves as a highlight for summer trout fishing in the Rogue Valley. After months of enduring high water, the...

Lake Davis / Frenchman’s Reservoir Fishing Report
The water levels at Lake Davis have risen 13 feet since January 1st, and it’s full to the brim. I’ve never seen it so big, and one can only truly grasp it unless they are there in person. It’s up into the conifers and forest land. Those rainbows that have the ability to spawn are pretty much done with it, and as in the...

We had a little weather system move through the Sierra over the weekend, bringing cool and breezy conditions. The fishing was stellar a week ago and slowed to a crawl as Sunday approached. It has been a curious spring so far with 50 feet of snow sitting in the mountains, awaiting warm temperatures and runoff. Once the weather stabilizes and heating begins, I...
