Upper Sac 

This week we have had some incredible weather and have taken full advantage of it—I even found myself wet wading. I did a couple days on the Upper Sac this week and the fishing was ok. The river is still big and currently flowing at 3390 cfs; two days ago it was at 2300 cfs, So it jumped up a thousand cfs since the 1st. 

You have to pick your spots wisely...

Opening week on the McCloud has been a hoot! Despite high flows we found some good fishing. Our anglers focused on the soft seams and side channel pocket water to find success. The big grey drakes and black caddis, were out and making for decent dry fly fishing. The majority of our fish however, were caught on nymphs.

Huge water on the Truckee River.

Simply put though-we’re crushing big fish.

Flows have increased out of Lake Tahoe, biggest the flows out of big blue have been since ’06. Huge, big pumping flows everywhere on the river. Big water= big fish. We’ve put a plus 20 incher in the net everyday I’ve gone out this week. Good luck doing that in summer on the Truckee River.
