The Surf and the bay have been fishing pretty well. There are a lot of smaller to mid sized stripers running around the bay right now. They have been liking all colors from chart and white, to blue and white, and black. Get out there now is the time. Look for low wind and surf days to capitlize. We have big tides with the upcoming full moon

Shitty spring weather, but good fishing.

We broke the all time Nor Cal precip record from 82-83 this week. Crazy. The Truckee River watershed has a ton of water. The Truckee River has been hovering between about 3,500-4000 cfs here in the Hirsch. Big, big water. We’ve been getting some big, big fish though. Fish of peoples lifetimes really.

So be careful out there....

April is a month of cool, unsettled conditions and so far it has lived up to its reputation. The ski area, Mammoth Mountain, just passed the 600 inch mark for snow accumulation this season, over 50 feet of snow! When you fish the Upper Owens the view is amazing, the Sierra is blanketed in white to the base of the valley floors. The run off will be amazing this spring....

Fishing has been really good one day and sucked the next. The weather does not seem to be making that much of a difference. One thing I can say for sure is that it’s crazy crowded out there. Most people are fishing just a few spots. My advice would be to try a beach that doesn’t have 100 anglers on it. You will have a better chance of catching that 20 plus pounder...

The Bay continues to slowly clear and improve. The water clarity will vary day to day and the fish roam everyday too. Find bait and you’ll find stripers. The bigger fish from the Delta are on their way out to the ocean now so don’t be too shocked if you find a couple 5+ pounders in between the schoolies.
