Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Lower Sacramento RiverApr 27, 20171 min read

Hogan Brown reports on 4.27.17

Striper and Shad on the Lower Sac - The River is dropping and the clarity is improving GREATLY from Chico down river. Conventional bait anglers have been catching good to great numbers of fish up through Butte City even with high and off color water. As the river drops and  clarity improves fly anglers should be able to take advantage of the HUGE run of migratory fish and feeding resident fish. I was not hopeful for much shad fishing this year but if the flows continue to drop and the clarity comes around May is the month and it might happen.
