Burney/Fall River Fly Fishing Report

Michelle Titus Reports on 7.14.2016

The Intermountain region continues to produce numerous trout for the avid angler.

On the Fall River, the Hex hatch is slowing down though there are still episodes of big beautiful rainbows gobbling up Hexagenia Limbata Mayflies after sunset. This annual hatch is something special to experience.

During the day, nymphing on the Fall with Copper Johns and Midges...

Northern California Report

We have been seeing some nice fish coming off of the Northern California Rivers. As we move in to the warmer months fishing gets tougher for those who don’t know where to find fish.

here are some tips for our Northern California Rivers

  • Morning and evening are likely going to be the most productive times of the day.
  • Fish the faster more oxgentated water.
  • Fish shady spots and deeper water.
  • Fish pocket...

Burney/Fall River Fishing Report

The Intermountain region has been on fire lately!

On the Fall River, the Hex hatch is in full swing with big beautiful rainbows gobbling up Hexagenia Limbata Mayflies each evening. Fishing at sunset with Mt. Shasta in the background is a sight to behold.

During the day, nymphing with Copper Johns and Midges or presenting PMD’s and a variety of sized Parachute Adams to rising fish has been...

Mt Shasta Fly Fishing Report

Dax Masset reports on 6.23.2016

The weather has been very sporadic in June here in Nor Cal. Mt. Shasta got a beautiful blanket of fresh snow a few nights ago. It makes for beautiful sunsets on Fall River as you await the hex hatch, which I have been fishing most nights since it started in late May. Some of the windy and cooler nights this past week kept the hatch from happening, but overall its...

Burney/Fall River Mills Fishing Report

Hat Creek

Isn’t quite on fire anymore, but still fishing well. Trending more towards the normal fishing…tricos spinner fall in the a.m., nymphing through the middle of the day with small mayfly patterns like Hogans S&M, and micro mays. Evenings are great, lots of mayflies popping as well as Yellow sallies in the fast water.

Pit River

Pit one is...

Dave Neal’s Nor Cal Fly Fishing Report

Dave Neal reports on 6/2/2016

Green light… Go! That is my advice. Many of our mountain freestone and tailwaterish rivers here in Northern California are shaping up nicely. And, the two big spring creeks of the area are also fishing well. I would highly suggest you plan a fly fishing trip soon to hit either the McCloud, Upper Sac, Pit River, Hat Creek or Fall River… or all 5 if you can swing it....

Hat Creek

Has continued to fish well, some really nice fish being caught. The spinner fall has been epic up in the fast water, and evening hatches have been great. Small dark mayfly patterns have been working well under the indo. Warmer weather this next week should make some bugs pop!

Fall River

Still fishing a bit slow, weeds are still sparse. However there is...

Lower Sacramento River

Still one of the best shows in town, the Lower Sacramento River right here in Redding, CA continues to provide us with awesome fishing week in and week out. Hatches this past week have been strong in the late morning and afternoon with intense pmd activity leading the charge. Caddis are out in good numbers as well and the bottom of the river...

Burney/Fall River Mills Fly Fishing Report

John Fochetti @ Clearwater Lodge Reports on 5.4.2016

Tout opener in the Burney-Fall River Mills area was a success. Lots of water and lots of very hungry trouts.

I tried to shake it up a little and fished some areas with less pressure, and it paid off. We fished a little lake on opener which was full of gorgeous wild Browns. My point is that there is an insane amount of water in our area, so do a...
