All of our waters are full and cold, and some restoration projects have us pretty excited. Cal Trout is almost finished with a project on Hat Creek. We are looking forward to see how it improves fishing. For more info check out Cal Trout website.

Burney Area Fly Fishing Report

Dave Neal Reports on 9.3.2015

The first week of September is finally upon us. We will soon turn the slow corner into fall season!

I’ve spent most of my guide days this past week fishing out of Clearwater Lodge on nearby waters of the Fall River Valley, Hat Creek and the Pit River along with a couple days floating the Lower Sac in Redding. We had a wonderful time at the Lodge with Chef Noelle...

Burney Area Fly Fishing Report

Pit River

Fishing continues to be solid in the Inter-Mountain region. I’ve spent most of my guide days in the areas of Hat Creek, Fall River and Pit 3 this week. With lots of good (cold water) summer fishing destinations nearby, Clearwater Lodge has been our base camp for adventures. Chef Noel’s amazing culinary creations are always a fantastic finale to a great day on...

Burney Area Fly Fishing Report

Dave Neal Reports on 7.8.15

There are many solid trout fishing options in the North State right now! This week should be particularly awesome with the cooler weather & overcast afternoons we are experiencing.

Currently, I’m most excited about fishing Fall River, Lower Sac, and the Pit #3, while doing skills-building sessions for beginners, kids, and novices on places like Hat Creek, Burney Creek...

Hat Creek/ Fall River Fishing Report

Leslie Ajari

However, the clouds did make for some beautiful sunsets.

Mornings on Hat...

Far Northern California Fly Fishing Report

Dave Neal, Reel Adventures Guide Service

Two words for Nor-Cal and Southern Oregon fly fishers… Get Outside! It’s the middle of May… do you know where your wading boots are?

Simply put… it’s an angler’s blank canvas with pretty much every fishery in northern California holding potential over the next few weeks. It’s all beginning to happen: salmonflies, golden stoneflies, caddis, drakes, pmd...

Hat Creek Fishing Report

Leslie Ajari

Headed out to catch the evening bite on the riffle. Dark brown caddis and yellow sallies were hatching in abundance. I even saw a few salmon flies helicoptering around in the mix. The fish were mainly targeting the emerging caddis, and I landed an epic brown and classic hat creek rainbow, both on dries. Not too shabby for a half hour sun downer session.

Hat Creek Fly Fishing Report

John Fochetti, Clearwater Lodge

From Powerhouse #2 down to Brittain Lake. Most of the water in this stretch of River is fed by the Rising River lake which is a massive spring feeding cold water into the main stem of Hat Creek above the town of Cassel. Sure it is the middle of August and the sun is high and bright, but the water is cold and flowing at a constant rate. My suggestions would be to hit...
