Hat Creek put up some good fishing in the early a.m. and late afternoon/evening hours this past week… tricos early, and caddis in the late day.

However, just like the report for the Pit River, wildfires are currently burning in the area.  Road closures, intense smoky conditions, and flames reported up 600 feet in height (!!)

Hat Creek - The Spinner fall in the morning is still going on and fish are chowing them in the faster water, size 22 Tricos fished with a classic upstream presentation will fool them. After 10am the game is nymphing with most fish being fooled by small mayfly patterns, try size 16-18 pheasant tails, micro mayflies, Hogan’s S&M nymphs or Zebra Midges.
