Good solid fishing on the Truckee River. Flows have been bumped up a bit, but not much change since last week. Get out in the mornings and you’ll get some fish. Afternoons maybe not so much. It is hot, around 90’ish every afternoon in the Hirsch. Very nice in the mornings.

Heating up here on the Truckee River.
Figured the heat of summer would kick in at some point. High’s are near 90 here in the Hirsch, and just plain hot in Reno. The river is fishing well in the mornings and shitty mid-day. Like I always say this time of year, take a break and come back right before dark.

Nice in the mornings, downright hot in the afternoons. Typical summer weather pattern. There ain’t much difference between the high temp in Hirschdale and downtown Reno. It gets hot.
Flows have come back up with releases out of Lake Tahoe. Nice cool water coming down the pipe.

I only say that a few times a year. Yes, the Truckee River is fishing very well right now. Flows have dropped to just about average and the water is warming. Bugs and fish galore. I did have one bad day last week. We fished streamers all day, some days they just don’t chase. If you nymph, or throw the dry dropper, you’ll catch fish.

The sun finally came out after about 2 weeks of rain. Flows are slowly coming down again. It’s ridiculously beautiful up here with all the green and the trees and bushes and things. Birds are chirping, deer are out, and the fish are healthy. Now we’ll get right into summer.
