Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Truckee RiverJun 28, 20181 min read

Truckee

Good solid fishing here on the Truckee River.

Nice in the mornings, downright hot in the afternoons. Typical summer weather pattern. There ain’t much difference between the high temp in Hirschdale and downtown Reno. It gets hot.

Flows have come back up with releases out of Lake Tahoe. Nice cool water coming down the pipe.

Water is about 450 cfs here in the Hirsch and higher down near stateline. Nice good flows on the Nevada side as well. Your best fishing right now is in the mornings and again late in the evenings. Go nymph some pocket water in the mornings and come back and dry fly fish in the evenings. You will see tons of caddis and yellow stones at dusk. Green drakes went bye bye. Really good dry fly fishing before dark right now.

Have fun and get ready for the masses of people for the 4th of July.
