Yuba River Fly Fishing Report

Jordan Romney Reports on 12.1.2016

The Yuba has been fishing fair to good. With the rain fall the river has risen to 1200 cfs and is holding there. If it stays stable we are in for a good December.

There have been a bunch of Bastia out but the interesting bug has been a cream pond that has been coming off around 10. With a light wind day the bugs are out and the fish are eating them on the surface....

Putah Creek Fly Fishing Report

Jordan Romney Reports on 12.1.2016

Well that’s a wrap. I decided to call an end to the fishing season on Putah Creek about two weeks ago. With the measly 50 cfs flows and how many early spawning fish I decided to move my trips elsewhere. December through February are the months that we ask anglers to avoid fishing Putah Creek to help protect the spawning fish. Ethically it is the right decision,...

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Jim Stimson Reports on 12.1.2016

Brrrrrr! The thermometer seems stuck at 14º F this morning. I can look across the Long Valley Caldera and see a thin, wispy veil of fog that hovers above the Upper Owens River. The coldest weeks of the year are coming soon as the sun dips lower on the horizon and the nights grow longer. It is hard to get motivated to go fishing but I know that it warms quickly and...

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Matt Heron reports on 12.1.2016

It’s been forever since my last report and I’m happy to say that the Truckee has been alive and well this fall. The rainbow fishing the last three weeks as been as good as I’ve ever seen it. With the end of fall nearing, we should be starting to see a few more browns post spawn appearing as well.

With winter weather here as of the last week, our fish should be...

Delta Fly Fishing Report

Steve Santucci Reports on 12.1.2016

Delta fishing is at it’s best right now.  Water temps  are middle 50 degree and the bigger Stripers are  feeding and active.  Use larger flies and a fast strip and you will be in step  Try to include some shallow water fishing with your intermediate type three line.  Dress warm and enjoy the beauty of the Delta.

Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

AC Fly Fishing Reports on 12.1.2016

The Sac is currently flowing at 5,000 cubes out of Keswick. Per usual for wintertime flows. Due to the lack of Salmon in the river we had an abbreviated “egg drop” compared to years past. Even with the lack of salmon spawning we still had very good trout fishing on the river. You can checkout some of the evidence here. Variety has been on the menu recently.. Big...

Trinity River and Klamath River Fishing Report

AC Fly Fishing Reports on 12.1.2016

Unfortunately, there’s not much good to report on either of these rivers. Both the Klamath and Trinity have had low returns of Steelhead this year. It looks like the compounded years of drought in Northern California are finally catching up with us. We had some pretty successful fishing early in the season over on the Trinity but the fish that did show up early...

Upper Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Ted Fays Reports on 11.16.2016

Big fish are ready to play on the Upper Sacramento River …. the only reeeel trout stream open all winter here in Dogpatch. Now that the traditional trout season has come to a close …. by that I mean ALL LOCAL RIVERS ARE CLOSED! You would be surprised how many sports do not know the closures in Northern California let alone the regulation changes on the USac (catch and...

Coastal Steelhead

The recent and future storms this weekend will likely have most of the north coast blown out, but we have been hearing early reports of fish in many of the north coasts rivers. Pretty cool since normally we don’t start fishing until closer to the new year.

Local bay

I have been getting out every day this week and with the exception of monday I have not found any fish around. Not sure where the fish went. Maybe it’s the storms rolling through or the colder weather that has them put down. I plan to fish the next couple days and see if I can find them.
