Fishing Report

Coastal Steelhead Report

Looks like Monday and Tuesday will be the days to be out there. We have heard there is a slide on the South Fork of Eel. We Are driving up today and will hopefully get eyes on the slide. The Smith will be the main coastal system in shape for the weekend and many smaller faster-clearing systems should come into shape at the earliest Sunday into Monday-Tuesday-Wed. I suspect by Thursday or Friday...

Pyramid Lake Fly Fishing Report

Supposedly there is going to be a press release coming out explaining the lake is closed until sometime in April. The road washouts are not going to be easy to fix. Hopefully, they can get up to speed quickly as Pyramid lake is an important part of the local economy up there.  We will keep you posted.

Trinity River Fly Fishing Report

Dave Neal reports on 1.26.2017

Flows on the upper Trinity River have dropped into fishable shape and the river is green and looking good. It’s still a bit big below Canyon Creek but the upper river from Lewiston to upper portions of JC is driftable. Best wading access is probably going to be in DC and Lewiston areas right now. The water was green up high but will be clearing the further downriver...

Putah Creek Fly Fishing Report

Jordan Romney reports on 1.26.17

Next Available dates, February 28-March

Well, I haven’t fished Putah since November. This is the time of year where I let the fish spawn in peace. They will replenish their own stock for years to come. In addition, the clarity has been awful. The fires from last few summers plus the el nino like rains have really put some interesting color mud into the river. The...

Delta Fly Fishing Report

Steve Santucci reports on 1.26.17

The Delta is very high and slightly off color in most areas.  On the bright side, I fished San Luis this week, with the whole lake totally clear and in great condition.  Even caught a few nice chunky Stripers.  Looking forward to a great Spring run of Stripers.

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Jim Stimson reports on 1.26.17

It is official – more snow has fallen this January than in any other month in Mammoth’s recorded history with 246” (that’s over 20 FEET!). The previous record was smashed by more than 3 feet, and the month isn’t over yet. Since the last storm systems passed through the area, we’ve been immersed into a deep freeze. Yesterday I was getting temperatures along the river...

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Matt Koles reports on 1.23.17

Another round of heavy snow.

Heavy, heavy, snow again in Tahoe. Awesome for the Truckee River. We really didn’t get any rain this round, all snow even here in Hirschdale, 5,500 feet. Up top there is a shit-ton of snow now.

The Truckee River is fishing very well right now. Just a bit over 800 cfs here in the Hirsch. Still big water, but clear. Take this class if you want...

Trinity River Flows Update

Lost Coast Outfitters reports on 1.23.17

It looks like we will get a dry-ish break from the storm cycle this week and into next. Keep you eyes on the Trinity, as it’s often the first to come back into shape. The river is already on the drop and the weather is expected to stay cold this week, which means, no snow meltage to blow the river back out.

The way upper, in Lewiston, is fishable currently....
