PLAYA BLANCA - GRAND SLAM OPPORTUNITY

I was just speaking with a friend on the phone today about getting back to Playa Blanca in Mexico this year. A moment’s later the opportunity arose. Playa Blanca has zero availability and 6 knuckleheads backed out of their trip. I have already confirmed. This is a move quick and act fast sort of deal. If you are looking to have shots at permit, tarpon, snook,...

Cal Trout’s Return To Abundance Film

Naturalist Aldo Leopold described ecological health as ‘the capacity of the land for self-renewal.’ While the last century has been hard on the Eel, the river is resilient. It has shown signs of recovery and has the ability to thrive once again. The Eel presents the best opportunity to restore historic fish abundance in California. Read about how CalTrout is leading the way for the Eel’s return to...

Coastal Report

Jason Hartwick Reports 1/12/2017:

Eel River at somewhere around 25ft. Photo taken at Fern Bridge. We should have some fishable conditions on your fast clearing creeks in a couple of days. High flows have fish spread out.

George Revel Reports on 1.12.2017

Trinity River Flow Report

1.12.17

The Trinity is coming back down after the most recent deluge. The way upper river, in Lewiston is in good shape at 313cfs and downstream, as the above graphs show, flows are very high but calming down. The Trinity usually drops into fishable shape quicker than any other major steelhead system so when it does, be ready to call out sick.

Fish will be scattered throughout the system, with Fall...

Upper & Lower Sac Fly Fishing Report

Bucko Theriot Reports on 1.12.17

Upper Sac
The Upper Sac was ripping and roaring this past week with the major storms we received. The weather finally let up and the river is on its way down after hitting over 15,000 cfs. It was quite the sight to see. The flows should continue to slowly drop but there is more weather on the way next week.

Lower Sac
I guided two wonderful ladies from Southern...

Coastal Fly Fishing Report

Brandon Worthington Reports on 1.12.17

Last week before the atmospheric rivers hit we had low and clear conditions on the S. Coast making the fish spooky and a little on the tough side. I spent a few days out on the swing with folks though and even hit the water myself for a day and in general we were rewarded. Sometimes you just have to get out there and see. It’s game on though, there are fish...

Rogue River Fly Fishing Report

Jim Andras Reports on 1.12.17

It’s been awhile since my last report and honestly, it’s been awhile since getting out on the Rogue.  All of the rain and snow (181" of snow for the season at Mt. Ashland) hitting S. Oregon has kept the river very high.

Flows below the dam to Rogue Elk dropped to fishable levels and, at least for now, we’re not seeing large releases out of the dam like last year....
