Taking a look at the swell surf fishing should be good this coming Monday and Tuesday. If you want to get out this weekend Sunday is better than Saturday.

We managed to find some clear water and chrome fish this weekend. Out of respect to my friends who found this spot several years ago I am bound not to discuss it’s whereabouts and can take no credit in finding this spot. I hope you understand. Anything I find on my own I am happy yo share with you, but I am not the guy who gives up his buddies secret fishing spots.
This storm has the rivers...

Expect Douglas City down to blow out for a while. Upstream is blown out now but will just need a few clear days to come back into shape. The Upper river has been crowded. There are fish around but with the blown out conditions it’s hard to get excited about.

Releases from Englebright reservoir were cut drastically last Monday evening and the river went from 14k down to 5,165 cubes. Knowing there would be more clues revealed as to how the river may have changed, I drove down to get an accurate picture of such. I studied the river below the Parks Bar Bridge down to near the Hammon Grove Park area. The river’s course did...

We are off to a good start with winter. After getting slammed last weekend with 21 inches of water at Mammoth Pass, the snow pack is deep and dense. It is saturated with lots of water from the snow and rain. The next week is shaping up to be wet as well but I believe by all indications these next two storm systems are cold and snowy. All of our fisheries will be...

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe says Pyramid Lake remains closed to fishing and other recreational activities.
Permits are not being sold to allow fishing at this time.
The Tribe says Sutcliffe is still without most utilities and State Route 446 remains closed due to several washouts from Nixon to Sutcliffe. The docks at Pelican Point have been severely damaged, and...

Flows finally dropped in last weekend so Rachel and I took Saturday afternoon to find out what all of this water brought upriver. Still running about 1,000 cfs above normal at the time, the color looked really good and Rachel landed a bright winter fish quickly into the float. We found fish throughout the drift, all wild with winter and late summers in the mix....

Delta fly fishing is put on hold for me. Water conditions are high with muddy conditions in more than half the area. There is clear water in some areas of the North and South Delta. I am waiting for end of this next session of storms to end. Fished a little on my own this last week and found fishing very tough. Most anglers that are throwing lures or flies are...

Northern California has been dumped on with water as of recently. Hooray, no more drought! If you have been paying attention almost every river in NorCal is currently blown out. However if you really watch there are still some fishing to be had among all the high conditions. The Lower Sac is at 36,000 cfs and one river that you can fish when the water gets really...

She’s still big at over 1000 cubes here in the Hirsch, but starting to fish a little if you know how and where to fish in the higher flows. Clarity ain’t too bad. Summertime flows are around 500-600 cfs here.
If you’ve been watching the news the last week than you know how much snow we got up here. Little over 10...
