Flows are good. Would love to hear a report from someone fishing it. Try swinging leeches you might just run into a summer steelhead.

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Matt Koles Report on 7.19.2017

Flows are now average on the Truckee River.

Mid-July was my guess, and now flows are at right near 500 cfs here in the Hirsch. Just about average, normal mid-July flows.

Last week was a little weird with the dropping flows. This week should be better as trouts will have adjusted to the change. They should be in the fast pocket water, slots. The water is warming fast now...

Jim Stimson Reports on 7.20.17

Tioga and Sonora Passes are open, AND, the road down to Devils’s Postpone and the San Joaquin River will open this Friday. I cannot wait to fish and hike down in the canyon. It is a magical place to wander around and explore.

The summer is flying by. It seems like we are over the hump with runoff from the high country. The streams and rivers are still running at full...

Lower Sac Striper Fishing Report

Hogan Brown reports on 7.20.17

image

Lower Sac Striper Fishing - Striper fishing on the Lower Sac continues to be good. Most days we are into double digit keeper size fish with plenty of nice 5-8lb fish in the mix. We are starting to get shots and land some of the true trophy fish that everyone comes to the river for as well. The last week we have had some nice shallow water fishing as throwing...

Upper Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Rick Cox at Ted Fay’s Fly Shop Reports on 7.19.2017

Dog Daze officially here. Best fishing has been mornings and evenings. If you must get out there during the peak of the day when the sun is directly overhead seek out the heavy, oxygenated, frothy water. The fish on both the McCloud and Upper Sac love this type of water during midday. Little Black Shit has been working the best … remember get...

McCloud River Fly Fishing Report

Wildwaters Fly Fishing Reports on 7.20.2017

The McCloud River gave us a show last week. We ended up with some great fish and some good dry fly fishing. Overall the hatches are weak this year. However for 20-30 minutes, the PMD hatch was damn fine and there are enough Yellow Sallies flying around to keep the trout looking up throughout the day. Unless you see rising fish, its best to cover the water...

Jon Baiocchi Reports on 7.20.17

When it rains it pours, after a long winter without a guide trip for four months, business is booming. The influx of emails, calls, and inquiries off the street has been overwhelming. Being a sole independent guide that does not rely on others to fill trips has been rewarding, and my hard work for the last 20 years guiding is not only paying off, but now has a high...

Yosemite Fly Fishing Report

Rick Mazaira Reports on 7/20/17

The fire is still raging, 45,000 acres - the size of the city of Seattle as of this writing, threatening Mariposa and up the Merced River canyon. A few of us have been evacuated, and containment due to all the dead trees and wet winter contributing to fuel, containment is not in the near future. All is about the same as last week, fish carefully not getting too far...

Surf Report 7.21.2017Fly Anglers are getting fish all over Bay...

Surf Report 7.21.2017

Fly Anglers are getting fish all over Bay Area Beaches. A number of our friends are finding a lot of action from half moon bay to Stinson. There are still stripers in the bay too! Anglers have got some nice fish right off Crissy Field. Not just stripers but Halibut.

I have seen Burt at the casting ponds show up at the lodge with a couple of fish every morning.  They are out there! Check out Baker Beach in am. Fish are like the to eat the first part of the incoming tide.
