Delta Fly Fishing Report

Bryce Tedford Reports on 7.12.2017

Topwater Smallmouth is going strong in the North Delta, the last few weeks have really turned the bite on! I have been fishing kids & adults alike who are new to Fly Fishing! Smallmouth is ideal in getting anglers hooked on the sport! In addition, seasoned veterans cannot resist the lure of Topwater explosions on light tackle.

We primarily target Smallmouth with...

McCloud River Fly Fishing Report

John Rickard at Wild Waters Fly Fishing Reports on 7.12.17

The McCloud has some color which scares many anglers away but with some adjusted techniques it can fish very well. This is the time of the year when we are worried about Mud Creek’s affect on the upper river and reservoir. Despite the glacial melt, the last few days have seen some really nice fish in the net. There are some big browns...

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Jim Stimson Reports on 7.13.2017

Wow! We have almost turned the corner on July…. hard to believe. The summer is flying by.

Tioga and Sonora Passes are open, however, the road down to Devils’s Postpone and the San Joaquin River remains closed and I have not heard of a projected date of opening. Apparently, there is some major damage to the road which is going to delay access. Hopefully we can get...

LCO Reports on 7/6/17

Stripers are in the surf right now. Here’s our buddy Paul with a real good one. Large jig chartreuse and white clousers are going to do the trick for the big boys. But there are stripers of all shapes and sizes out there right now. don’t be discouraged if you don’t find them it takes hard work.

Fall River

Fall River is fishing well as it’s usual self. Mid morning dries, afternoon leaching, and evening hex hatch. For dries; Pmds and calibaetis tend to be the most abundant. When fishing dries I like to use a 15ft 5x leader and add 3ft of 6x fluorocarbon. this has been the best combo I have found for sticking nice fish on dries.

Nymphing rig a small bobber the take is...

Russian River Report

7/6/2017

Flows are at 200 Cfs and the summer is in full swing on the Russian River. Buggers and crawfish are going to be top producers. Fishing in the morning and evening will be best. The river is crowded throughout the day with people enjoying the river for other reasons than fishing. This is a fun smallmouth fishery right in our backyard.
