Hat Creek Fly Fishing Report
John Fochetti, Clearwater Lodge
With the Dog Days of Summer upon us, Hat Creek is mostly a morning and eveing bite. Still a great Trico Spinner fall in the morning. Size 22 still working well. Once the sun is high overhead the fish are reluctant to come up, so you’ll have to resort to small mayflies like Hogan’s S&M nymph in olive or brown, small caddis, or good old Pheasant Tails. The evening is still producing great dry fly action, some Yellow Sallies around in the faster water and mayflies in the flat water.
