Oregon Coast Fly Fishing Report

Brandon Worthington reports on 3.2.17

With the amount of rain we have received these last few weeks my small Southern Oregon Coastal rivers are holding level and color well. It’s like the saturated soils are slowly letting go of the water and keeping flows really consistent. This week has been my best week yet with some really great fish to the net and plenty of hook ups. Still a few weeks left out...

Rogue River Fly Fishing Report

Andras Outfitters reports on 3.2.17

Finally, the Rogue dropped to fishable flows (at least where I like it) this week and I made a day of it yesterday with friends to see what’s out there. Though still on the high side, the color looks really good above Dodge. Actually, the color looks good at least to Tou Velle park just more water to deal with. We did well, landing a few fish and losing a few...

Striper Fly Fishing Report

Steve Santucci reports on 3.2.17

San Luis Reservoir is fishing pretty well right now.  It will continue to improve thru May.  Fished it this week and did pretty well.  The lake is within 2 feet of being brim full.

Fished the South Delta this week and found out that most of the South Delta is closed to boating. The water was off-color and very high with less than 1 foot of visibility. The North...

Sacramento Valley Fly Fishing Report

Hogan Brown reports on 3.2.17

Fishing has been tough but if you get out and look and the weather cooperates you can find some fishable water. For us north staters all the rivers are toast as most will report. I have heard that the Trinity and coast maybe opening up a bit but the Feather, Sac, Yuba are all pumping…I have been exploring our local bass lakes…Black Butte, East Park Reservoir, and...

Putah Creek Fly Fishing Report

Jordan Romney reports on 3.1.17

image

The start to the Putah Creek spring season is on hold until further notice.  The flows are still over 3000cfs.  Typical flows for this time of year would be around 200. It is not just the volume of water the clarity is not right yet either.

Once the “glory hole” stops spilling we will see a drastic cut in flows to Putah Creek. When this happens, we will get a good...

Creekin’ Fly Fishing Report

Jordan Romney reports on 3.1.17

Creekin’

Trust me, you are not the only angler in California chomping at the bit to wet a line somewhere. Fishing so far in 2017 has been a bust. With only a handful of options and days to fish it has been tough out there.  We got the much-needed precipitation we asked for, ten-fold.  With the raging rivers, we may need to be looking at other options.

The rivers are...

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Matt Koles reports on 2.27.17

Clear and cold, but warming this week into next.  Finally a little break.

Flows are still high on the Truckee River. They are dropping, and are not as high as they have been the last month.

1,500 cfs is still big here in Hirschdale, but not as bad as 2,000. Way more manageable if you stay above the inlets of Boca, and Prosser Ck. I imagine flows will continue to slowly...

Coastal Steelhead

Finally, it looks like we could be fishing next weekend keep an eye on the flows and the weather but it looks like at least the Smith should fall into shape. More on this next week.

Trinity and Lower Sac Report

Dave Neal Reports on 2.23.2017

Well, not much to report this week other than the last few days the sun finally came out and it has been a welcome sight. It’s incredible how much rain we have endured these past 6-8 weeks in Northern California. I read in the paper today that Redding received 37.5" of rainfall since October 1st and recorded 7" in February alone.

Desperate times for a fishing guide in...
