Lost Coast Outfitters reports on 2.16.17

Here’s a couple of current graphs from the Trinity and Smith, though this describes the entire winter, with rivers almost dropping into shape just to blow out again.

The Trinity above Douglas City continues to be in shape with a few fish around, and plenty of desperate anglers.

Wet conditions are predicted across Nor Cal for the next week, so we need to look...

Lower Sac Update

Lost Coast Outfitters reports on 2.16.17

The  folks at Off the Hook Fly Fishing took this photo yesterday at the Sundial Bridge in Redding.

The flows out of Keswick have actually dropped to 49,000cfs, down from about 80,000cfs just a couple days ago. With Lake Shasta almost full, the powers that be are flushing water to make sure we don’t have a Feather repeat. It’s still too big to fish, but...

Delta Fly Fishing Report

Steve Santucci reports on 2.16.17

Delta water is high, off colored in many sections and hovers around the  55 degree mark.  Fished last Saturday and Sunday and only managed three fish each day.  We will just have to wait untill the conditions return to some degree of normalcy.  We need a couple of weeks of no rain to better our situation.

San Luis on the other hand is shaping up with great fishing...

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Jim Stimson reports on 2.16.17

We have had a few days off from inclement weather which has been great but it looks like we need to get psyched for at least another week of snowy conditions.

Lower Owens River
A word of caution, there has been a tremendous amount of precipitation in the last several weeks, even for Bishop. There are many deep puddles and lots of mud. Watch where you drive and walk to...

Northern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

John Baiocchi reports on 2.15.17

The Lower Yuba River crested on the 10th at 83,173 cubes, and retreated down to 8k on the 13th. In the last 24 hours the water level has increased around 19k and with a draw down to about 16k. The slight bump of water shipped through the system was from Bullard’s Bar reservoir making room for increasing water inflows. I think all reservoir operators learned a little...

Coastal Steelhead Report

Fishing The North Coast Reports on 2.7.2017:

Following another week of heavy rain and soaring river levels, green water is finally on the horizon for two of the quick-clearing coastal rivers. Sunshine is in the forecast for the weekend, and Monday and Tuesday are looking dry as well. For steelhead anglers, this means both the Smith and Chetco will be on the drop and heading towards greener waters....

Forecasting Resources

Bryan Waggonner wrote in to share some of his favorite forecasting tools and there are some gems here:

In regards to weather resources the following are some of my favorites:

On the above link, three tabs to the right from “Overview” is “QPF”, clicking that will give you daily rain totals out to a week, I use this often.

Rouge River Fly Fishing Report

Jim Andras Reports on 2.9.2017

More rain continues to keep the upper Rogue’s flows rising and unfishable. We’re seeing heavy rain in S. Oregon today so I expect the river to continue to rise at least throughout the day today. Looks like we’re in for a break starting Friday but it’s difficult to say if it will last long enough for conditions to improve before the next batch of storms hits next week....
