Sacramento Valley Fly Fishing Report

Arrow Thin Left Icon

Hogan Brown reports on 3.2.17

Fishing has been tough but if you get out and look and the weather cooperates you can find some fishable water. For us north staters all the rivers are toast as most will report. I have heard that the Trinity and coast maybe opening up a bit but the Feather, Sac, Yuba are all pumping…I have been exploring our local bass lakes…Black Butte, East Park Reservoir, and Oroville After Bay. Fishing can be good but it can also be REALLY tough. The difference is usually the weather. A few days of stable weather and the bite opens up, pressure fronts and/or storms start moving through and things get tight. There is reaction bait type fishing and jig type fishing on any given days as well as float and fly fishing available so lots of options for the angler that can time the weather right.
