Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Shitty spring weather, but good fishing.

We broke the all time Nor Cal precip record from 82-83 this week. Crazy. The Truckee River watershed has a ton of water. The Truckee River has been hovering between about 3,500-4000 cfs here in the Hirsch. Big, big water. We’ve been getting some big, big fish though. Fish of peoples lifetimes really.

So be careful out there. No need to wade deep. Fish are right off the banks. Get enough lead to get your files in the zone. You will loose a lot of rigs in the bushes and wood and things. You are fishing the old banks.

The Little Truckee River is raging too. The whole meadow is essentially all water. The LT has been right around 1000k for a few months now. It is not easy getting to the river in there. Be careful. If you do get in there, you will crush.

So big water years equal big healthy fish. The size and strength of these fish are unreal right now
