Lower Sac Striper Report

Ryan Johnston Reports on 7.27.2017

The Sac continues to pump out decent striper fishing. It seems that the numbers of fish has started to slowly decrease as is the case as we approach August. Most days right now we are hooking 15+ stripers. The quality continues to hold strong with a good amount of 3-5lbers in the mix. Seems like daily you can find 1-2 7lbers that will bend your 9 weight in half....

Lower Sac Striper Fishing - Striper fishing on the Lower Sac continues to be good. Most days we are into double digit keeper size fish with plenty of nice 5-8lb fish in the mix. We are starting to get shots and land some of the true trophy fish that everyone comes to the river for as well. The last week we have had some nice shallow water fishing as throwing...

Lower Sac Striper and Trout Report

Ryan Johnston reports on 7.12.2017

Sacramento River Stripers -The Sac is starting to fish well with a good amount of schoolie fish in the system. Expect things to get stronger as we get toward the middle of July. The best bite has been mid day to mid afternoon. Most of the fish are running in the 2-3lb class with Fish up to 7lbs being caught daily. As the water warms through the month expect larger...

Lower Sacramento Striper Report & Lower Yuba Report

Hogan Brown Reports on 7/6/2017

Lower Sacramento River Striper Fishing - The Lower Sac continues to crank out good numbers of keeper size stripers and a few double digit fish over the last week. We also hooked a true trophy that we lost in a big snag…kinda par for course when fishing the river. Clarity in certain areas is still an issue as a few banks are still coming down and washing mud into the...

Nor Cal Fly Fishing Report

Nor Cal Fly Guides Reports on 6.25.2017

Well this report comes to you a bit late, its not because of the great weather we have been having, but the great fishing we are having, but its better late then never. With the longest spring we have seen in years, getting out on local water has been a bit tough. Over the past few months almost all of my trips have been on the Lower Sac with a few on Putah....

Lower Sacramento Striper Report

Hogan Brown Reports on 6.24.2017

Lower Sacramento River Stripers…last day I was on the water was June 17 - Family Vacation time….. Fishing was good as we are starting to get shots at bigger fish as the shad thin out. Flows are dropping due to irrigation and banks are coming down muddying up certain stretches of the river so knowing where the clarity is best is KEY. As the heat arrived I took the...

Lower Sac Striper Report

Capt. Hogan Brown Reports on 6.16.2017

Striper fishing on the Lower Sac has been fair to good. The whacky weather this week messed with the bite for a few days but HOT weather moving in is stabilizing fishing again. Most fish are still averaging 4-8lbs but we did hook our first 2 fish of the season in the 20lbs class this week. The big fish are starting to eat in the traditional feeding areas as...

Lower Sac Striper Fishing

Hogan Brown Reports on 6.9.2017

Lower Sac Striper Fishing is fair to good. There are plenty of migratory fish around and the bigger resident fish are starting to feed as the Shad thin out. Fishing this week should really pick up on the back side of the full moon and as the warmer weather moves in. Fish are averaging about 5-10lbs and the bigger fish should start feeding more heavily in the...

Lower Sac Striper Report

Hogan Brown Reports on 6.1.2017

Lower Sac Striper - Fishing has been good to very good for medium size 3-8lbs stripers. There are schools of schoolie size migratory fish around and the resident 8-10lb fish that can’t fit a shad down their throat are starting to get active as temps move up to 65 around midday. Visibility is about 2-2.5’, flows at Ord Bend are 12478cfs, water temps are ranging from...

Lower Sac Striper & Shad Report

Hogan Brown Reports on 5.25.2017

Lower Sac Striper Fishing is fair to good. There are still good numbers of migratory stripers in the river from Colusa to Chico. The resident stripers are starting to feed but most big fish are chasing the shad that are in the river in fair numbers. River Clarity is 2+’ and water temps are 60-65. Striper fishing should continue to improve over the next few weeks and...
