The amazing Trinity received a lot of rain over last week’s storm system. We thought she would blow out any day but the river held on until the very end… finally blowing out for just a day and a half over last weekend. As soon as it stopped raining the river was on the drop and clearing fast by 12/2/18

The recent rains are a welcomed change of pace and it’s starting to smell a lot like Steelhead in Northern CA. We had a solid dose of rainfall in Shasta, Trinity and Siskiyou counties today. The rivers will rise a bit and get some much-needed color added to them.

We may have finally turned the corner as far as smoke and air
quality in the north valley. Air conditions the last few days in and
around Redding have been stellar with cleaner air and blue skies. In
addition, the daytime highs have been cooler than average in the
high 80’s low 90’s this past week… Morning’s and evening’s have
that feel like fall is in the air!
The Trinity River is still kicking out a few steelhead here and there but you really have to want it and persist. The Trinity River has been a bit scratchy this week. The recent rains brought the flows up only a tad but didn’t provide much color. The water below JC is high and CLEAR which can equal tough fishing.
You’re gonna have to work hard and cover a lot of water to find a fish or two right now. Keep moving because there are no pods of fish anywhere. One or two here and there....
