The Trinity River has been a bit scratchy this week. The recent rains brought the flows up only a tad but didn’t provide much color. The water below JC is high and CLEAR which can equal tough fishing.

You’re gonna have to work hard and cover a lot of water to find a fish or two right now. Keep moving because there are no pods of fish anywhere. One or two here and there....

Trinity River has been a very cold place this week. Mornings starting at 27 degrees and ice build-up in the guides till lunch. We are working very hard for a few fish opportunities each day. Tyler, our friend Dan, and myself hit the Trinity last weekend to chase a little fall chrome. We drove up from SF Friday night, with the plan to float the river in small boats and swing flies all weekend. These one-man rafts are a great way to get between productive water.

The Trinity is fishing well. Fish are spread out through out the system. The river is pretty low and clear. Fish are coming on nymphs, swing and even skate.

The Lower Sac is fishing good to very good for anglers that can achieve the right drift in the exact right spots. The Trinity River was fishing well before the Helana fire erupted just a few days ago. This fire is in a very bad place and has already burned 130 structures. Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends and family who live in the area and are battling the fire.
