Lower Sac And Trinity River Report

Lower Sacramento RiverJan 26, 20181 min read

AC Fly Fishing Reports on 1.25.2018

The Lower Sac is still sitting at 4k cubes - ideal for winter trout fishing. It has been a very good option for scratching the winter trout itch. Mid-day hatches of Baetis and various other Mayflies (March Browns included) have been getting the fish grabby. We are only a month or so away from seeing the first big (Brachycentrus) Caddis hatches of the year. If you don’t know - these hatches during the first warm spell in March can make for some ridiculously good trout fishing. Both nymph and dry fly fishing will be available in early March.

We’ve had some pretty good days fishing for Winter Steelhead over the past few weeks. The Trinity is starting to show off some of the late-run wild fish that are extremely fun and HOT. We’re looking forward to chasing the Winter fish through the month of February. We have a few guides with dates open still if you want to get in on the chase of some big, bright, wild steelhead.
