Trout -

The Salmon fly hatch is starting to ramp up. The bugs are scattered throughout the entire lower Deschutes River. But we are still several days before primetime kicks in. Do to the better than average winter we just had, it should help keep our salmon flies around longer and the fishing should be good through a chunk of June this year.

Our first day of winter steelhead season started off with a bang.We hit two steelhead and farmed a third in just over 2/3 of a day fishing. The next day our luck wasn’t as good and the fish were playing hard to get. Thats the way it can be for winter steelheading on a fly. The good news is we know there are fish around and the ones that are here are shiny and ready for battle.
