Deschutes River Fishing Report

Cory Godell Reports on 6.30.2016

We had another great salmon fly hatch on the Deschutes. Now that they are gone so are the bulk of the fisherman. But just because the salmon flies are gone doesn’t mean the dry fly fishing is done on the Deschutes. Because of the hot weather that has been hitting us for the past several days, our caddis hatches have been going off like crazy. Fishing on the...

Deschutes

It’s been another great salmon fly hatch but the bad news is that we are now on the last leg of it. So if you want to fish the big bugs you had better get here in the next week. Otherwise you will have to wait till the 2017 season.

The good news is with this crazy hot weather that’s hitting us right now the caddis hatch is already cranking up. The even...

Deschutes River

Trout -

The Salmon fly hatch is starting to ramp up. The bugs are scattered throughout the entire lower Deschutes River. But we are still several days before primetime kicks in. Do to the better than average winter we just had, it should help keep our salmon flies around longer and the fishing should be good through a chunk of June this year.

Steelhead...

Salmon Flies and Golden Stones

That’s right, it’s that time of year again. The Stone Fly hatch is already ramping up. The warm weather we’ve been having, has got the big bugs excited and a lot of them are on the move and heading for dry land.

We’ve already seen a few bugs up as far as the Trout Creek area and there are good numbers showing up around Maupin. Some fish...

Cory Godell Reports on 3.10.2016

Trout season is off to a good start. My two favorite clients and I made our way down to our local sportsman show. While we were there they both hooked into a some nice trout. Now it’s time to head back to the river.

Winter Steel
So far we’ve been lucky. With the storms hitting our area, the Sandy River is holding strong. The river level has definitely been going up...

New and exciting changes for the Deschutes RiverIt’s a new year and with the new year comes change. The new and exciting thing in our neck of the woods, is as of January 1st of this year the entire lower Deschutes is now open to fishing year-around. So for those of you who want to get a jump on the season (or just want to see what it’s like to have the entire river...

Oregon Fly Fishing Report

Winter SteelheadThrough a chunk of December the winter steelhead fishing was all in all good. For the past 10 days or so fishing has slowed due to the lack of rain and low freezing levels. This has made the river crystal clear and water levels to drop a bit on the low side. But just in the past couple of days the freezing level has slowly started to creep up and by the end of the week the...

Winter Steelhead

Our first day of winter steelhead season started off with a bang.We hit two steelhead and farmed a third in just over 2/3 of a day fishing. The next day our luck wasn’t as good and the fish were playing hard to get. Thats the way it can be for winter steelheading on a fly. The good news is we know there are fish around and the ones that are here are shiny and ready for battle.

Another season has come and gone. We’d like to thank everyone who came out with us on the Deschutes, Sandy and Owyhee Rivers this season.  For those of you that didn’t make it out with us this season we hope to see you next season.
This was by far our best and busiest season ever at Deschutes River Anglers. We hardly had much time off. So we’re sorry if you...

Steelhead
The steelhead fishing is RED HOT right now on the Deschutes River. Cooler weather and overcast skies has made for some of the best fishing this fall so far.  But don’t wait too long to hit the river because there is only 2 months left in the Deschutes steelhead season.  Fishing should continue to be good right on through the end of the year.
