Deschutes and Owyhee River Report

Deschutes RiverJun 2, 20161 min read

Cory Godell Reports on 5/29/2016

Deschutes

It’s been another great salmon fly hatch but the bad news is that we are now on the last leg of it. So if you want to fish the big bugs you had better get here in the next week. Otherwise you will have to wait till the 2017 season.

The good news is with this crazy hot weather that’s hitting us right now the caddis hatch is already cranking up. The even better news is that with the salmon fly hatch winding down the amount of people fishing the Deschutes is dwindling every day. So if you like stalking rainbow trout, sipping dries in back eddies or along soft moving banks your time is now.

Owyhee

If you wanted to fish the Salmon Fly Hatch on the Deschutes but wasn’t able to make it, don’t worry. Once August and September hit big dry fly season for the browns starts on the Owyhee.
