Lower Sacramento Striper Fly Fishing Report

Capt. Hogan Brown reports on 9.27.18

Lower Sac Striper fishing - Boat traffic from salmon anglers is been a bit lower as deer season is in full affect and people are off hunting or hunting the river. Fall striper fishing is in full swing and there has been some big fish out feeding as well as plenty of 3-5lb fish to fill in the gaps.

Fishing is best where boat traffic is the lowest due to salmon...

Lower Yuba River Report

It sure is nice to be working close to home again, in another month I will be making another transition to guiding the Lower Yuba River full time until the end of March. Currently the flows are at 750 cubes and the water is clear. Flows are perfect for the ability to cross the river but know your limits and be careful. Yesterday an older fly...

Deschutes River Fly Fishing Report

Steelhead Time

It was a fun ride while it lasted on the Owyhee this summer. The hoppers seemed to come and go a bit faster than normal. This is probably do to the long hot, dry summer we’ve had. With that being said the browns still knew what they were and were definitely on the hunt for them. Even with hatches coming to an end quicker than normal the quality of the...

California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Steve Santucci reports on 9.27.18

Delta Striper Fishing has been really good this week.  I am sounding like a broken record but it’s has been consistent.  Catching good numbers of good size fish.

Water temps are holding at around 68 degrees and there is good clarity.   At this time of year you can enjoy great weather with a hot bite.

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Autumn is in the air. The aspens at the higher elevations are in prime plumage with the larger trees along the canyon bottoms poised and ready to begin their color change. If you are into leaf peeping, the prime time is usually mid-month. This looks like a good, colorful autumn ahead. Enjoy!

East Walker

The flows are currently at 125...

McCloud River Fly Fishing Report

Chuck Volckhausen reports on 9.20.18

The Mccloud is safe again and clear of smoke most days.  Fishing is good and cold nights will be kicking more and more Caddis out of the water and into the sky.  Seriously though the river looks great right now.

The Klamath river is showing signs of a great ½ pounder run.  The river is in good shape and cool nights are managing water temps quite well.

Salmon are...

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

We have definitely turned the corner on summer. Fall is in the air! The morning temperatures in Crowley have been in the lower 30’s. I even had to scrape frost off the windshield before venturing north towards the East Walker. At least for me, the days of wet wading are history. I have been suiting up with long johns, waders, boots,...

California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Bryce Tedford reports on 9.20.18

With cooler nights come cooler water temperatures, Smallmouth Bass fishing has slowed up & I now transition to  Largemouth/Stripers throughout the Delta! Water temperatures are 67-68 degrees in much of the Delta with cooler nights setting in.

For Largemouth it’s hard to beat size 2 Topwater frogs or 1/0-2/0 crease flies when they are keying on baitfish.

For...
