San Francisco Halibut Fly Fishing Report

Capt. Kevin DeGulis reports 9.13.18

Its been an excellent week in the San Francisco Bay and it is only going to get better. We are in the thick of the striped bass migration, but other ocean-going aquatic animals are coming into the bay as well. What is exciting and becoming a growing phenomenon is California Halibut on the fly.
Here are some keys to success when targeting Halibut on the fly.

Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Ryan Johnston reports on 9.13.18

The lower parts of the Sac continue to fish well for a multitude of species. From trout, steelhead, stripers, and bass you can find lots of different willing players at the end of summer.

With the weather starting to cool off expect the striper fishing to slow down and the steelhead fishing to get better by the week. Can’t wait for fall fishing. If you want to get...

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Fall is in the air! The morning and evening temperatures are brisk as the sun angle gets lower in the sky. I am afraid the days of wet wading are about over. I will be packing my waders, boots, and extra clothing from now on. Fishing continues to get better and better as the water cools off. On one of the Crowley Lake tributary...

Deschutes River Fly Fishing Report

Cory Godell reports on 9.6.18

Steelhead

Steelhead season is here and going strong. For late August there are a good number of fish in the river, and the good news is bulk of the steelhead are still on their way. With the nights cooling down water temps are dropping which should start bringing in more and more fish into the Deschutes. We have been catching the occasional steelhead up river but you...

California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Bryce Tedford reports on 9.6.18

Still a mixed bag out there as we found some quality Stripers, Largemouth & Smallmouth this week. This time of year it can be a fun challenge to chase the “slam” of all 3 bass species the same day! Water temperatures have dropped below 70 degrees in much of the Delta with recent cooler weather. Hard to beat large size 2 Topwater frogs for Largemouth, small size 6-8...

California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Steve Santucci reports on 9.6.18

Striper fishing remains strong and will be improving as we enter the month of September.  After Labor Day we should start to improve with less boat traffic.  Catching some really nice fish along with the fun size schoolies.

Have openings for September, October and November.  Please let me know if you want to book a trip.

Trinity River Fly Fishing Report

Dave Neal reports on 9.6.18

We may have finally turned the corner as far as smoke and air
quality in the north valley. Air conditions the last few days in and
around Redding have been stellar with cleaner air and blue skies. In
addition, the daytime highs have been cooler than average in the
high 80’s low 90’s this past week… Morning’s and evening’s have
that feel like fall is in the air!

Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Fall is in the air! The morning temperatures are in the low 40’s and the sun angle is low. The grasses and trees are getting a hint of autumn coloration. I have my garlic harvest curing in the garage and there is fruit on the tree outside ready to be plucked for a fresh baked, apple pie. So enter September, an awesome time of the year...
