California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Capt. Steve Santucci reports on 10.4.18

The Delta Striper Fall Run is in full swing.  Fishing is really good and were catching good numbers of fun fish.

The fish are well distributed in all areas of the Delta.  The weather is settling into  our typical Fall pattern with calmer winds and cooling air temperatures.  I hope you can fit in some Delta Striper fishing into your Fall schedule

California Delta Fly Fishing Report

Capt. Bryce Tedford reports on 10.4.18

Striper fishing in the Delta has slowed up a bit but continues to be good & should be great in the coming weeks. Largemouth are also available & can be fun Topwater wise on low light days. Water temperatures are 68-70 degrees in much of the Delta with cooler weather setting in.

For Largemouth Fishing it’s hard to beat size 2 Topwater frogs or 1/0-2/0 crease...

Lower Sacramento Striper Fly Fishing Report

Capt. Hogan Brown reports on 10.4.18

Lower Sac STriper fishing has been up and down with the changing weather. We have had 80-90 degree weather and high 60s with good amounts of rain. One thing that can really mess with the striper bite on the river is change weather and pressure fronts moving through. So fishing has really depended on the day. When the weather has been stable and the barometric...

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report

Rick Cox reports on 9.28.18

The Klamath and Rogue River

Wild Waters guides recently did a recon to the Lower Klamath to checkout the steelhead run. To their pleasant surprise the lower river showed a very strong steelhead presence with numerous pods of them moving through.

We experienced some double-digit days with a mix of half-pounders and adults. I don’t want to get too cocky but hang on to your...

Upper Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Rick Cox reports on 9.28.18

The Upper Sacramento River

The Upper Sac is fishing very good too up around Dunsmuir and down to mid river. The further south you go on the river the more likely to find bigger fish. Access below Gibson has been tough due to the fire mop up but when it opens up I expect the fishing to be very good.

Haven’t seen any October Caddis yet but that should happen any day....

McCloud River Fly Fishing Report

Rick Cox reports on 9.28.18

The Delta Fire

Fires, fires have been the theme this summer. First the Carr Fire that devastated Redding, then the Hirz Fire that threatened the McCloud River and now the Delta Fire which engulfed the lower section of the Upper Sacramento River and I-5. My trip to the North Umqua and Montana was cut short by the alarming threat of the Delta Fire as it spread rapidly along...

Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Anthony Carruesco reports on 9.28.18

Lower Sacramento River

Fishing has remained good over the past week. Still mostly a bug game but there have been a good number of King Salmon showing in the upper river, meaning the egg drop isn’t that far out.

We’ve been seeing some very quality fish this year.

We’re expecting this trend to continue and even get stronger as the Fall season progresses.

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Matt Koles reports on 9.27.18

Rolling right through September on the Truckee River.

Cold nights, warm afternoons on the Truckee side, cool nights, and hot afternoons on the Reno side. Be nice to get some weather, but hard to complain about how nice the weather is.

Not much change really in the last few weeks on the river. Flows and weather and bugs remain about the same.

Key would be to fish all...
