Deschutes River and Owyhee Fly Fishing Report

Cory Godell Reports on 11.3.2106

Yah it’s true, the number of steelhead in the Deschutes is definitely down this season. The good news is that the average size of the fish have been bigger than normal. This year we have seen a fair bit more two salt fish than normal. Sometimes less fish in the river isn’t always a bad thing.

Rogue and Klamath River Fly Fishing Report

Brandon Worthington Reports on 11/4/2016

I have bounced between the Rogue and klamath this week - fish are finally showing on the klamath down in the canyon too! Good water conditions and grabby fish. Some were so hot… man they ripped! The Rogue seems to be kicking out brutes this year… great water conditions and the swung fly have been my ticket. I’ve been out fishing the nymph guys… sometimes big...

McCloud and Upper Sac Fly Fishing Reports

Rick Cox at Ted Fay reports:

With all the current conditions we are putting up with you would think things are tough but guess what, it hasn’t been all too bad. Now that could change on the McCloud (talk about clouded) and the Upper Sac any time but up until recently both rivers have been giving up decent fish. Rain is the big nemisis and we are currently getting some. As you can see the McCloud...

Trinity River Fishing Report

\Reports from clients and guides alike have been that fishing is pretty spotty. Numbers range from getting skunked to 5 or 6 “hookups” a day nymphing.

Last weekend Jon Baoicchi was out with Jason Cockrum:

At last, a vacation for myself on the Trinity River after grinding it out for 8 plus months. It started last Friday as I made the journey to Weaverville where my long time guest, and buddy Dave...

Yuba River Fishing Report

Jon Baiocchi Reports on 10.27.2016

Current conditions on the Lower Yuba River have changed in a big way during the last 2 weeks. Since our first good storm that rolled through on the 16th and 17th there has been an increase in salmon populations hovering around active redds. There were way more in the system today than last week. Deer creek came up over 500 cubes during the last storm and...

Klamath River And Rogue Fly Fishing Reports

Brandon Worthington Reports on 10.27.2016

I was fortunate to be on the water for the entire water event beginning last week, through the weekend and this week. As a steelhead guide I am used to cross referencing reports, forecasts and predictions, but that’s usually not until my winter program in January!

Even though we got pounded I was able to find good fishing for my clients through the storm and...

Delta Fly Fishing Report

Steve Santucci Reports on 10.27.2016

Striper fishing has really picked up with larger fish mixed in. The fish are pretty much scattered all over the entire Delta. You can catch fish in all five areas of the Delta. The fish are hitting small as well as large offerings. I always opt for the larger offerings if they are hitting both sizes. The rain has definitely helped with more fish and great water...

Pyramid Lake Fly Fishing Report

Doug Oullette Reports on 10.27.2016

Some BIG fish are starting to come off the beaches at Pyramid Lake. This week there has been at least 8 fish released over 15 pounds! These fish have been caught from beaches all over the lake from far north to far south. Along with these giants, several mid sized and smaller fish have also been caught. We are averaging just over 2 fish per hour, mostly the...

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Matt Gilligan Koles Reports on 10.27.2016

Kinda the best fall fishing we’ve had in a few years on the Truckee River.

The last few we just haven’t had any water. Dismal to say the least. I was mostly at Pyramid Lake last couple falls because I just didn’t want to shoot fish in a barrel on the river. Other guides were guiding the river, folks were fishing, but I tried to stay away. The moral to this...
