Eastern Sierra Fly Fishing Report

Jim Stimson Reports on 10.27.2016

We had an interesting weekend of weather throughout the Sierra. At our end of the State we had primarily a wind event, though the town of Mammoth Lakes reported just over 4” of rain. I watched the river flows on the San Joaquin go from 5 cfs to over 900 cfs on Sunday evening. This ended up being a nice, wet event. The ski area received a few feet of snow depending...

Lower Yuba Update

image

I worked the Lower Yuba River on Tuesday for a special guest who wanted a private one on one pontoon workshop. It was a glorious day with sunshine and beautiful cumulous clouds lining the north eastern skyline, and highs in the lower 60’s. The flows were running at 1530 cubes, and the water clarity was surprisingly good after the onslaught of our...

Open Guide Dates:

Jan 5-7, 14, 16, 21, 28

Lower Sacramento Striper fishinghas been good if you can really pick your day and time. With the weather swings of the last week, I wouldn’t say I would take anyone’s money to go out as the weather changes really affect the fishing but if you can pick your day and hit right fishing can be...

Feather River Fly Fishing Report

Ryan Johnston Reports:

The Feather River is having a decent start to the season. It is still early in the season but things are setting up nicely over there. There are plenty of salmon and are just starting to get on redds. So expect things to star improving there in the next couple of weeks. Quite a few steelhead are still dialed into bugs so don’t be afraid to fish some nymphs below your eggs....

10.13.2016

Did some dawn patrol missions this past week. I was checking out a few new locations. I had one big fish roll on my 4/0 topwater fly and two smaller fish take a sea habit. Everywhere I have gone there is so much bait around. Unbelievable!  They are here we just need to cross paths…

Trinity River Fly Fishing Report

Look for the Trinity flows to spike particularly in the lower stretches. If I were fishing the Trinity this weekend into the week I would fish the upper river near lewiston. The fish are hitting the hatchery already with reports of some very large fish (40+ inches) expect fishing to be great as the flows return to normal.

Reports for the past week have been that the fish are in but fishing is...

Upper Moke- It’s all fishing well, dries & dry droppers. Stimulators & Caddis are best. Cooler in the morning so nymphing will be your best bet early.

Klamath and Rogue River Fishing Report

Brandon Worthington Reports on 10.13.2016

Fall fishing on the Rogue continues to be what I am used to. Some days are better then others, but each day sees opportunities! It’s steelhead fishing, and you don’t go because you catch 50 in a day…it’s about the quality. The klamath to is fishing very well, with both skated dries and tips swinging them up. My first day here this season was Monday with 4...
