The Feather River is having a decent start to the season. It is still early in the season but things are setting up nicely over there. There are plenty of salmon and are just starting to get on redds. So expect things to star improving there in the next couple of weeks. Quite a few steelhead are still dialed into bugs so don’t be afraid to fish some nymphs below your eggs....

Did some dawn patrol missions this past week. I was checking out a few new locations. I had one big fish roll on my 4/0 topwater fly and two smaller fish take a sea habit. Everywhere I have gone there is so much bait around. Unbelievable!  They are here we just need to cross paths…

Update;;;

Reports from the McCloud have been excellent. Fish are chowing BWO, October Caddis, Golden Stones, Streamers and Midges. Some of the biggest fish I have seen on the McCloud have come off in the past two weeks!

Putah Creek has been fishing well but very pressured. Small mayflies have been the ticket. 

North Fork Yuba has been awesome this past week. October caddis and dry fly paradise. 

Look for the Trinity flows to spike particularly in the lower stretches. If I were fishing the Trinity this weekend into the week I would fish the upper river near lewiston. The fish are hitting the hatchery already with reports of some very large fish (40+ inches) expect fishing to be great as the flows return to normal.

October Caddis are on!!! The Stanislaus & Merced. Size 10 nymph or 10 dry.

Mokelumne- The Moke pulses for the Salmon are on.

Upper Moke- It’s all fishing well, dries & dry droppers. Stimulators & Caddis are best. Cooler in the morning so nymphing will be your best bet early.

Stanislaus- South Fork is doing well. Yellow Sallies, and Hare’s ears dries are picking up...
