Lower Sac Fly Fishing Report

Hogan Brown reports on 12.22.2016

Lower Sacramento River -

Been on the Lower Sac from Bonnieview Boat Ramp to Anderson Boat Ramp as I think the river below Cow Creek is still a bit off color. Fishing has been hit or miss. One spot fishes really well then the next 5-8 don’t give up a fish…The Baetis hatch has been spotty at best though most fish are coming on smaller mayfly nymphs. Seems to be...

is fishable in the top few floats even with the massive push of water from this last storm set. I think the Lower Sac is going to be the main game for a while as long as the Yuba is high. Dec and January are great months on the Lower Sac and provide some of the biggest fish of the year for anglers. Not a huge numbers game but good fish.

Lower Sacramento Fly Fishing Report

Anthony Carruesco reports on 12.15.2016

The Sac is currently sitting at 5k Cubes and flowing green. We’ve had some very good days out there recently for winter standards. Fish are more concentrated in their winter spots and eating a pretty diverse menu of bugs. Midges, Baetis, PMDs, Caddis, Stones and the round fly are catching quality fish right now. More than anything it’s about putting it in the...

Lower Sac and Trinity Report

Ryan Johnston Reports on 12.8.2016

This last week I have been bouncing my fishing venues around quite a bit from trout, to steelhead, to bass. It has been a fun week of switching out rods and techniques to put my clients into fish.

The Lower Sac trout fishing continues to be average for this time of year. The upper stretches near Sundial are starting to see less pressure and more people are now...

AC Fly Fishing Reports on 12.1.2016

The Sac is currently flowing at 5,000 cubes out of Keswick. Per usual for wintertime flows. Due to the lack of Salmon in the river we had an abbreviated “egg drop” compared to years past. Even with the lack of salmon spawning we still had very good trout fishing on the river. You can checkout some of the evidence here. Variety has been on the menu recently.. Big...

Lower Sac and Feather River Fly Fishing Report

Ryan Johnston Reports 11.24.16

The Lower Sac is fishing average for this time of year. With the slower start to the Trinity the Sac is still seeing lots of pressure for this time of year. The upper parts of the river are putting out some big fish still but the numbers of chances are down and strikes are super fast. Most days right now on the upper river we are hooking about 25 fish per day. You can...

Lower Sac Stripers:Fishing has slowed dramatically but the river is fishable and the big fish are the ones that are eating…I mean really big. This is when you may fish all day for one grab but it will be a true trophy. I fished last week when the weather was warmer and caught plenty of 3-8lb fish and had one...

NorCal Fly Fishing Report

Brian Clemens Report on 11.10.2016

Feather:

I have spent a good amount of time on the Feather lately and with the salmon in full spawn mode the egg bite is in full swing. Right now its all about getting on as early as possibly and fishing hard for the first 4hrs as this seems to be the best egg bite opportunity with this nicer (sunnier) weather. This is mostly due to the salmon falling back into the... Continue reading

Lower Sacramento Striper fishinghas been good if you can really pick your day and time. With the weather swings of the last week, I wouldn’t say I would take anyone’s money to go out as the weather changes really affect the fishing but if you can pick your day and hit right fishing can be...
