Flows have dropped considerably since this time last week! This should mean great things for the fishing. The Upper Sac has produced some nice fish this spring and will only get better.

The rivers running off Mt. Shasta are all starting to come into play for the season.  We do expect the upcoming, hot weather to bump some flows up due to snow melt, mostly on the Upper Sac and its feeder creeks.  We have been fishing from the raft and from shore.  Hatches of stoneflies and mayflies become more prolific everyday spring approaches.

The Upper and Lower Sac are running big but fish are being caught. The Lower Sac went back up to 13,000cfs over the weekend but the fish did not seem to be bothered. Upper Sac 

This week we have had some incredible weather and have taken full advantage of it—I even found myself wet wading. I did a couple days on the Upper Sac this week and the fishing was ok. The river is still big and currently flowing at 3390 cfs; two days ago it was at 2300 cfs, So it jumped up a thousand cfs since the 1st. 

You have to pick your spots wisely...

The upper sac is flowing big but fishable. Angler’s throwing Salmon fly nymphs on the soft edges are finding fish on the Upper Sacramento river right now. Fish are even looking up!
