McCloud, Upper Sac Report

McCloud RiverJul 27, 20171 min read

7.27.2017

Fishing on the Upper Sac and McCloud are in very similar places. Hot weather and full sun will make fishing difficult. In the Middle of the day get your flies down. Fish a range of PMD’s, Caddis, Yellow Sallies and LBS (little black shit). Hunt for shade, deeper pools, and white water. Cover a lot of water and you will be rewarded.

The water on the upper sac is clear so fish longer and lighter leaders than you normally might.

The McCloud has received its run of lake run brown trout. They are in the river and now is a great time to hook a toad.

You can find dry fly opportunities morning and evening. Try swinging caddis too!
