Striper fishing has been good the last couple of weeks.  It helps if you can find a day with moderate winds.  Water temps are lowering with a range of 68 to 72 degrees.  

Water clarity has been clear in most areas.

Fishing on the Sacramento River near Chico remains solid for stripers. As is typical in August our numbers start to decrease but we start seeing more quality fish later in the season that we go. The best fishing the last couple of weeks has been in the middle parts of the day from 11AM-2PM being the best bite.

This time of season there are truly tons of great fishing options to be had. If rainbow trout is what you prefer, the Deschutes is fishing very good. During the heat of the day nymphing is the best way to catch Deschutes Redsides. But by no means is it the only way. If you know where to look there are still plenty of dry fly opportunities out there.

Mixed it up a bit this week with Topwater Smallmouth in the North Delta & Stripers in the main Delta. Smallmouth action slowed up a bit this week but found a bunch of Schoolie Stripers taking baitfish on the surface. In addition to the Smallmouth & Stripers, Topwater Largemouth can be good the first few hrs of morning or last few hours of the day.

While we were gone the fishing remained good in the Monterey Bay. Some really nice fish have been caught within the bay as well as up the Pacific coast. Most are not seeing numbers, but the fish that are being caught are not little. Our good friend Ken Oda @kenoda870 beached a whale of a striper this past week that must of been one heck of a battle!
