Burney/Fall River Fly Fishing Report

Michelle Titus @ Clearwater Lodge Reports on 7.21.2016

The Intermountain region continues to produce numerous trout for the avid angler. On the Fall River, the Hex hatch is slowing down though there are still episodes of big beautiful rainbows gobbling up Hexagenia Limbata Mayflies after sunset. This annual hatch is something special to experience.

Dax Messett Reports on 7.21.2016

Fishing has been really good most everywhere this pas week in Northern California.

Fall River:The hex hatch is still happening on most nights. If it’s windy, find somewhere with a good wind break and you will find the fish. During the day you can find a good calibaetis hatch on lower parts of Fall, which has made head hunting with drys for large fish a fun game to...

Upper Sac and Pit River Fly Fishing Report

Brian Theriot Reports on 7.14.2016

The beautiful Upper Sacramento River has been putting up a good defense right now and the fishing has been tough, but if you are going to fish this river, the best times have been early morning and late evening. Good hatches have been coming off right before dark and that is your best time for dry fly fishing. Wet wading has been battling the hot temps, so be sure...

  • Fish the faster more oxgentated water.
  • Fish shady spots and deeper water.
  • Fish pocket...

Burney/Fall River Fishing Report

The Intermountain region has been on fire lately!

On the Fall River, the Hex hatch is in full swing with big beautiful rainbows gobbling up Hexagenia Limbata Mayflies each evening. Fishing at sunset with Mt. Shasta in the background is a sight to behold.

During the day, nymphing with Copper Johns and Midges or presenting PMD’s and a variety of sized Parachute Adams to rising fish has been...

Mt Shasta Fly Fishing Report

Dax Masset reports on 6.23.2016

The weather has been very sporadic in June here in Nor Cal. Mt. Shasta got a beautiful blanket of fresh snow a few nights ago. It makes for beautiful sunsets on Fall River as you await the hex hatch, which I have been fishing most nights since it started in late May. Some of the windy and cooler nights this past week kept the hatch from happening, but overall its...

Lower Sac Fly Fishing Report

Dave Neal Reports on 6.15.2016

Technically it is still spring. Summer is 5 days away and the weather this week feels more like March than late June. When it could easily be 102 in Redding today, the high is expected to only reach 70… what wha????

The fishing on the Lower Sacramento from downtown Redding to Anderson continues to be ridiculously spectacular! We are consistently amazed by the health...
